Purpose: Provide spiritual guidance, leadership, and creative direction for worship and discipleship ministries at First Reformed Church. The primary focus is leading the congregation into authentic and powerful encounters with God through meaningful and excellent musical worship while fostering a culture of spiritual growth and discipleship.
Worship Leadership:
- Craft Transformative Worship Experiences:
Lead worship that draws people into the presence of God with a thoughtful blend of contemporary and traditional elements, fostering engagement and reverence.
- Collaborate with the Senior Pastor:
Coordinate regularly to align worship themes, music selections, and creative elements with sermon series and church events.
- Oversee Musical Direction:
Lead and oversee all musical direction for band and vocal volunteer musicians, providing leadership, scheduling, and ongoing development to foster a high standard of excellence in worship.
- Special Services:
Assist with planning for special services including weddings, funerals, and other church gatherings and projects as appropriate.
- Production and Technology:
Supervise and assist the Production Coordinators to ensure excellence in sound, lighting, video projection, and broadcasting.
Discipleship Leadership:
- Adult Education & Small Groups:
Develop and oversee vibrant adult discipleship opportunities, including Wednesday Night Live (WNL) and small group ministries for men, women, and co-ed groups.
- Leader Development:
Recruit, train, and equip small group leaders to foster spiritual multiplication and growth within the congregation.
- Curriculum Development:
Select and assist in developing an engaging and theologically sound curriculum for adult education and small groups.
- Publicizing Opportunities:
Creatively promote discipleship offerings to the congregation through communication channels.
- Board of Christian Education:
Assist and advise the Board of Christian Education on matters of curriculum, teacher development, and overall spiritual formation strategies.
Pastoral Support:
- Facilities Oversight:
Supervise the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator and Facilities Rental Coordinator.
- Pastoral Care:
Participate in pastoral visitation and care.
- General Ministry:
Assist with preaching, team-teaching, and other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor or Consistory.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Worship, Ministry, or Music); Seminary degree preferred.
- Proven experience in worship leadership and discipleship in a church setting.
- Licensure and/or ordination (or actively pursuing).
- Strong theological grounding and musical proficiency.
- Ability to mentor and develop volunteer leaders and staff members.

Physical Requirements:
